Apologies for the poor quality photos in this post. I only had my iPhone with me.
The fincas are full of life after a spring of enormous amounts of rain. It is now scorching hot and everything is buzzing with life, and a piece of land I look at from my desk upstairs which was cut back to ground zero in May is now inaccessible with metre-high ferns and grasses.
We Trap-Neutered-Returned three cats last time we were here (thanks Lisa - you know who you are!). One was Zorro, one was Frank Sinatra and one was the newly named Bette Davis. Here's a picture of Bette Davis below. We'd heard that old song on the radio 'She's got Bette Davis eyes' and then arrived here, and saw a very skinny but gorgeously large-eyed little cat, and so she was duly named. And this is her heading for some food.

Frank Sinatra had been fighting a lot, probably with the newly named Boof-Head, in May and had some nasty cuts on his front legs. He was looking a bit pathetic and we didn't know whether to get him neutered or not, but on balance we decided to for two reasons: discretion might turn out to be the better part of valour post-neutering, and the vet would get to look him over under sedation. We have seen him a lot since we've been back and he is still not great, but the cuts have healed, and we are feeding him up. Interestingly I saw Boof-Head and Franky within metres of each other the other day and they didn't appear to mind at all, so maybe Frank has been avoiding the alpha male 'race'.
Other cats we've seen are Xena (previously known as Alpha female), and here she is below. She was one of the first we had neutered and is a picture of vitality.

We've seen a lot of Gaia, and a small skinny ginger boy who so far has managed to avoid a name! Here he is just sloping over the wall...
Finally, we saw in the distance, with TortiMiniMe, a new Butterfly Cat. She is extremely shy and lives under the horreo of our neighbours.
And I will leave you with a striking Butterfly Cat spotted in the village nearby.
What a beauty! (Thanks for the photo, Robert!)
